Cheque-service

Cheque-service is a cheque prevention and validation service which has been offered to merchants by SCORE & SECURE PAYMENT for more than 30 years. It aims to secure payments by cheque in real time.

As part of this service, and by working closely with member merchants, if a cheque is rejected by the bearer of the cheque’s bank, SCORE & SECURE PAYMENT undertakes to compensate any damage suffered by the merchant and to pay the cheque amount (subject to conditions). The merchant member can consult SCORE & SECURE PAYMENT at the moment of cheque payment. This allows them to find out whether the transaction guarantee has been accepted or refused.

To issue an approval or refusal to the merchant, SCORE & SECURE PAYMENT carries out various checks, In particular, this includes consulting the National Register of Irregular Cheques (FNCI), managed by the Banque de France, and calculating the risk of the presented cheque not being paid. These cheques will take into account statistics related to the transaction, the store, and the context of the purchase.

Should approval not be granted by SCORE & SECURE PAYMENT, the merchant still has the right to accept the cheque presented. However, it will not be guaranteed in the event of non-payment or in terms of any other means of payment.

This service for merchants is also intended to protect consumers against fraudulent use of their cheque books.

As part of cheque payment security, SCORE & SECURE PAYMENT is required to process certain personal data relating to the consumer. However, in no event does SCORE & SECURE PAYMENT have direct access to the consumer’s bank account or its balance.
